1. For the first time forest cover in Tiger Corridor, Tiger Reserve and Gir Forest has been assessed.
a. Tiger Corridor area increased by 37.15 sq km (.32%) between 2011-2021
b. Tiger Reserve area decreased by 22.6 sq km (.04%) between 2011-2021
c. Forest cover increased in 20 tiger reserves and decreased in 32 between 2011-2021
2. Mangrove shown an increase of 17 sq km
3. Pakke Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh has increased forest cover and nearly 97% of reserve is forest area.
4. Forest Area
a. Total forest cover in terms of geographical area of India: 21.71% (2021) which has increased from 21.67% (2019)
b. Highest Increase in Forest Cover Telangana > Andra Pradesh > Odisha
c. Five North East States lost forest area Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland
d. Highest Forest Cover (area wise) is MP > Arunachal Pradesh > Chattisgarh
e. Highest Forest Cover (percentage of total geographical area wise) is Mizoram > Arunachal Pradesh > Meghalaya
